"Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness."

I'm switching it up a little today and beginning with "Quotational" Friday and ending with a comical canine! So, without further ado, here is today's quote of the day;

"My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the hell she is."

                                         Ellen DeGeneres

I hope everyone has a fun, safe, weekend . . . Blessings!

"I truly believe that everything that we do and everyone that we meet is put in our path for a purpose. There are no accidents; we're all teachers - if we're willing to pay attention to the lessons we learn, trust our positive instincts and not be afraid to take risks or wait for some miracle to come knocking at our door."

The Multiple Health Benefits Of Yoga

      YOGA, It Does A Body Good!

Picture
After my devastating spinal cord injury, I lost the ability to do many, and I mean, many, physical things. It broke my spirit and almost took me out of the game of life. Thankfully, I worked extremely hard at keeping a positive attitude and outlook on life. I also had to accept the fact that I was a "Human Being" and I was going to have bad days like everyone else where I would become sad, depressed or even both over my current physical condition.

Yes, there were and still are days when I feel myself getting down because of my limitations and how much I so desperately miss those days of being in great physical condition before my injury ended all that.Someone had suggested to me that I might benefit from yoga. When I finally finished laughing after getting a great visual of me attempting to put my broken parts into those almost painful looking poses, I said; "You're kidding me, right?"

They were actually quite serious and enlightened me on the many types and forms of yoga there are and how a class in "Chair Yoga" might be doable for me.  "Chair Yoga?" I questioned with sincere interest. I was then told how it is a basic form of yoga where the participants (Most with physical disabilities) can receive the benefits of yoga without having to get on the floor or put yourself into funky positions.

I searched and found a "Chair Yoga" class right at the YMCA I belong to. Who knew? I signed up (and so did my wife) and all I can say is; "It was one of the best decisions I could have ever made regarding my health!"  I had another major surgery coming up in 3 months and I wanted to be as healthy as humanly possible before it. Well, to make a long story short, I was discharged from the hospital two days after my surgery. Can you believe it? To this day, I am positively certain it was because of the "Chair Yoga" I had been doing the previous months before.

Yoga has so, so, many great benefits both physically and spiritually Here is just a sampling of what and how yoga can help you;

  • Improve flexibility
  • Betters bone health
  • Protects spine
  • Prevents cartilage and joint breakdown
  • Builds muscle
  • Perfects posture
  • Boosts immunity
  • Drops your Blood Pressure
  • Makes you happier
Do yourself a favor . . . find a way to incorporate some form of yoga into your daily schedule. Whether it's a class, video tape, individual instruction or even "Chair Yoga," do it for yourself . . . You're Worth it!
                                               Namaste, Jim

"If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall , don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."
